Definitions

Personal Information: any information which can be used to identify you (including but not limited to your name, birth date, email address, photo, address). Your Username may include your Personal Information, but is not included in this definition.

Team: the insightScope users working on a project, including the Project Manager as well as all current, former and future Team Members.

Username: the unique name you select when signing up to identify you when using insightScope. You may choose to include your Personal Information in your Username.

Data Collection and Use

insightScope will only collect and use your Personal Information according to this Privacy Policy. We will email you if we change this Privacy Policy or if we use your Personal Information for any reasons not included in this policy. Those users who have chosen not to receive communications from insightScope accept the responsibility of reviewing the Privacy Policy at each sign-in. Signing in following a change to the policy approves the Privacy Policy.

We collect your name and email address to administer insightScope. Each time you sign up for a project, you are agreeing to share your email address with the Team. This is necessary for Team communication throughout the review process.

Making your Personal Information available to the Team may mean your Personal Information is transferred to a third-party email provider or to a different country. We cannot limit which third-party email providers the Team uses to communicate with you or which country your Team may reside in. All insightScope users must use your Personal Information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. The insightScope platform, its owners or operators are not in any way responsible for Team’s storage, use or disclosure of user data.

You will also be asked to provide additional information on your profile page, including but not limited to your photo, occupation, organization, address/location,  systematic review experience and training. You may also link one or more social media accounts to your profile. By choosing to complete this information and save it in your profile, you agree to the following: (1) logged in insightScope users may have access to your profile and view your information; (2) insightScope users who are not logged in may view personal information on projects that have been made public by the Team. You control the information made available on your profile page and available for public viewing; (3) insightScope may use this information to evaluate or describe the insightScope user group in reports or publications and will only share this information as anonymized, aggregate data.

Your Username will be used to track changes you make in your projects and, with your permission, will be used on the Team lists and Leaderboards used to promote or describe projects and to compare users’ activity. If you choose to include a profile photo, this will appear on the Team lists and Leaderboards (site Leaderboard and project Leaderboards) as well. Through your profile page, you may choose to: (1) have a name other than your Username appear on Team lists and on the Leaderboard; (2) opt-out of having personal information appear on the Team lists or Leaderboards.

The address/location provided at sign-up and on your profile page will be used to populate the map describing the Team geography. Locations will not be linked to specific Team members on the map, and can be modified on your profile page at any time.

Communications

insightScope will use your email to administer its platform, which includes contacting you about updates to our policies and website.

You may agree to allow insightScope to use your Personal Information to contact you with newsletters or about new systematic reviews or evidence-based medicine initiatives that may interest you. You can opt-in or out of these newsletters and emails at any time through your profile. Those users who choose not to receive communications from insightScope accept the responsibility of reviewing the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for potential changes at each sign-in.

Deleting your Account

You can delete your account at any time through your profile. When you delete your account, all Personal Information you entered is deleted from insightScope and its servers. We will remove your Username from the Leaderboard, if applicable, and your Username will no longer be visible to all users. Any content you contributed to a systematic review will remain the property of the Project Manager and insightScope and will remain visible to the Project Manager and Project Team, in accordance with the Terms of Use.

Your Personal Information held by insightScope is visible to you in your Profile. You may correct or update your Personal Information at any time directly in your Profile.

Cookies

We use cookies to track how long your session is idle. We do this to automatically log you out of your account when your session has been idle for 30 minutes.

Security and Personal Information Storage

The security of your Personal Information is important to us. It is important to remember no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Your Personal Information is contained on a server most likely located in the United States of America and is in secured networks. It is only accessible in accordance with this Privacy Policy or by a limited number of persons responsible for insightScope’s administration and web design. These administrators, located in Canada, have special access rights to such systems and are required to keep the information confidential. While we will strive to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Users who have registered to the site agree to keep their password in strict confidence and not disclose it to a third party. insightScope will store your Personal Information until you request to have your account deleted. We will only use or disclose your personal information as stated in this policy or as required and permitted by law.

Third Party Sites

While using the site you may encounter links to third party websites. insightScope is not responsible for these sites and has no responsibility or liability whatsoever related to privacy or any other legal matter with respect to such sites. We encourage you to carefully read the privacy policies and terms of use or service of those sites.

Age Requirements

Users must be 18 years old to create a profile and participate in insightScope.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

The insightScope Privacy Policy strives to comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This Privacy Policy is effective 20-Aug-2021 and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future, which will be posted on this page. We reserve the right to update or change our Privacy Policy at any time. If we update the Privacy Policy, we will contact you by email. By signing in to insightScope, you are accepting to the new policy. insightScope users accept the responsibility of providing accurate contact information and for reading communications. User signing into insightScope following a change to our Privacy Policy of Terms of Use accept those changes. Those users choosing not to receive communications from insightScope are responsible for regularly reviewing the policies and accept them on sign-in.
